As some of you might know, 16th December is a national holiday in Bangladesh.
A lot of Bangladeshi people will be unable to participate in it and it will kill the interest of the contest, specially because the host of this contest is a Bangladeshi University.

It will be very helpful for everyone if the date of the contest can be changed.

I am a bangladeshi and i love my country very much.
In 16th december we arrange many ceremony to respect
our independent holiday.for this sence i wellcome IIUC to arrang
this contest as remmember our independent day and also i think
all programmers of world will know about that's day by this contest and it will be a glad news for bangladeshi.
I think all bangladeshi programmers should participate in this contest
to respect our holiday and show all that this day is our independent day.
So i think no need to change this date and it is perfect date for Bangladeshi.

I got your point but, I think the University is the best place to participate in online contests and on that day the Universities will remain closed. This deprives us of team work and experiencing the environment of real time contests.

And everyone might not have the internet connections at home.

I think it is a stupidity in a country like Bangladesh not to allow students to use labs on holidays as most of the students are deprived of internet at home. At least the contestsants should be allowed to use it. But as the public universities are run in lazy fashion and private universities are run in businessman fashion this is impossible in most universities. IIUC contest has been shifted to saturday. We will continue to arrange contests on holidays (like saturday) as before as this is an international site. The universities in Bangladesh must change their attitude and they cannot be allowed to set standards. However being a Bangladeshi I have full sympathy for those who cannot participate in online contests in holidays.

Participating on Saturdays is no problem for us.

It seems that the number of discussions related specifically to Bangladesh and Bangladeshi programmers in this board have been a bit too much. This is an international board and we all should uphold that spirit. I have rarely seen programmers from other countries bringing their country or any local topic to this board. I personally think that the best way to uphold the image of this country(as far as this board is concerned) is to do well in online and real time contests - the country flag beside our names will speak for itself.

but hosting contests on tuesday will not only effect the Bangladeshis ( if I can mention) but also all the international contestants. I am sure everyone prefers contests being held on saturdays and not on any weekdays.

Hmm! I am quite concerned if people start calling me Uncle so early.
