But what about all those people who speak Spanish but no English? They are not able to participate in English contests! Yeah, right, of course they can't read this, so they won't defend themselves here
However, I'd guess that most programmers speak English, since programming languages are usually in English. Ever thought about the troubles a non-English speaker must have learning Java? All those class and method names don't make any sense for him/her. Poor bastards

I repeat that this contest was public (it was clearly stated in http://acm.uva.es/contest before the contest, as you can see right now for contest ID 45 named "UVA Local Contest - Second Round") and the general rules that applies to every public contest were applicable in this contest too! The only information that was in Spanish was how to register for our Local Contest. And, if you visit http://acm.uva.es/contest/data/0044/Onl ... e-rk1.html you'll find that we have more than 160 contestants, and only a few or them were from Spain. If you are not from Spain, that information is not for you...rafay wrote:Because of maintaining online competetions pages in spanish, you cannot have maximum participation.. and this way you are not allowing some excellent programmers to take part in it...![]()
don't u want ppl from all over the world to participate in these competetions?
Also, please notice that problems were written in English too.
What we cannot do is to publish in English the specific information for Local Contest here in Valladolid - although everyone in the ACM-ICPC is suppoused to have some knowledge of English, I also want to make this kind of local information available for journalists...

Yes, sir. But this is nothing new!
From http://acm.uva.es/contest clicking on "Running Contest" and then in "Submission Instructions", you can read:
So please, do not repeat that you couldn't participate because it was in Spanish, because that is NOT true. Thank you
From http://acm.uva.es/contest clicking on "Running Contest" and then in "Submission Instructions", you can read:
This rules applies for EVERY CONTEST hosted in our system. This help has been always available from our website. To submit contest problem solutions to the Online Judge, you must follow the usual syntax but replacing the problem number (starting from 100) with a letter from A, B, ... and so on
...
You probably can participate in this contest (and in most of contests: except for a few of them, which also won't be announced, you may receive an Access Denied report). If you still not appear in the ranklist is because you are not officially registered, but you will appear in the All teams ranklist just after submitting your first problem (but note that we don't recommend you to submit bad solutions: errors have 20 minutes of penalization!. The other ranklist (Qualificable teams ranklist) is intended only for the organization who prepares the contest and their members, you will not appear on it if you are only a guest contestant. The contests which are arranged by us and also some other contests may not have any qualificable teams ranklist.
So please, do not repeat that you couldn't participate because it was in Spanish, because that is NOT true. Thank you
