I'm not a great problem solver, so by calculating my ratio (problems solved / time_registered_in_uva) , i believe i will take about 10 years to reach this mark...

But life is non-linear, you know...

I'm a bit late, but...

Congratulations Joachim! 2000 solved problems is a huge accomplishment. Even going for the 2000 easiest problems would mean solving a lot of incredibly hard ones.

I'm 60% towards the same amount, but in order to reach 2000 I would probably need another year or two as unemployed (that is how I managed to find time to solve so many problems a few years ago in the first place). I think I'll pass your $500.000 offer, it's cheaper for me to take a sabbatical year in order to solve 770 more.

And if the remaining problems are too hard, I'll just create new datasets for some easy problems that can't be submitted yet.

Hehe, not quite, although I might hope to be a professor one day. I'm currently a student.

I thought "sabbatical year" was the usual phrase for taking a year off from work, regardless of profession, although I guess it isn't too common in most companies.
