Here's some input / output that I found useful while testing / debugging my program.

Input:

Code: Select all

Hi,
in this problem I use the following data structure:

unsigned char memory[100];

If I use the following line to generate the output, the tests are fine:

printf(" %02X", memory[j]);

However, with the next line I get "Wrong Answer":

cout << " " << hex << uppercase << setfill('0') << setw(2) << (unsigned int)memory[j];

Do anyone know the difference between the previous ways of generating the output? (I have tested several cases, but I have not been able to find any difference)

Hi csegura, I had the same problem. You should use:

Code: Select all

cout << " " << setiosflags(ios_base::hex | ios_base::uppercase) << setfill('0') << setw(2) << (unsigned int)memory[j]; // BAD CODE
instead of

Code: Select all

cout << " " << hex << uppercase << setfill('0') << setw(2) << (unsigned int)memory[j];
The difference is that in the second line the hex and uppercase flags are still on after printing (which means that you are printing the test case numbers in hexadecimal) and in the first line those flags are reset.

EDIT
The first line is wrong, apparently you can't use setiosflags with ios_base::hex, I gotta read more about streams. Anyway the issue is the same, before printing the test case number use dec.

Code: Select all

cout << "Case " << dec << case_number << ":";

Individual bytes are circular as well, so increasing a 255 gives a 0 and vice versa.
