Suggestion: Make Source Code retrievable

Post by dawynn »

Somewhere, the judge keeps all of the source code sent to it. Every so often, when test data changes, or whatever, the judge can revalidate all of the code sent for a particular problem. Problem is that sometimes it's been several years since we submitted the program, for one reason or another -- source code gets lost.

It would be VERY nice to be able to log in and retrieve my own source code in these cases. Yes, have the download area password protected so I can't steal another programmer's source code. But I don't see why I can't retrieve my own code.

We are in process of redesing the website and give more functionality, including this feature you suggest. We kept the sourcecode of the submissions, and we plan to let you retrieve them by request. But we have a lot of things to do before. Be patient, please...

An alternative, possibly easier to implement, would be to have the judge return a copy of the source code whenever a program is re-judged and determined to receive a different judgment -- whether the judgment is better or worse.

Of course when the re-judgment does not changes the outcome, nothing would need to be done.

In this moment, such change (which seems quite easy) is quite difficult for us to implement. Thank you for the suggestion, anyway.
