hi.. are there any books or e-books that are easy to understand for someone new to algorithms and CS? i only did computer science AP in high school, and i want to get familiar with some common algos. thanx.

Hi, I'm a student in grade 10. I want to get involved with problem solving through programming and am looking for some books to help me get started. I was looking at "Programming Challenges" which seems to be at my level. How in depth does it go? How is it different from the lectures on his website?

I also saw "How to Solve It: Modern Heuristics" as very accreditted but I'm afraid it will be hard for me.

Please say what you think of either of these two books and if they would be appropriate, or maybe you have some other books?
I am good at memorizing things in a sequence.

Assuming that you are very familiar with a language such as C/C++, the next step would be to see books on Discrete Mathematics, Data Structuures and Algorithms. There are plenty of good books available.

After reading these books, you can move onto reading books on advanced topics.

I have read some chapter in Introduction to Algorithm. I think it's quiet good to improve one's skills.
