Programming Competition

Post by konsept »

A few weeks ago I joined http://www.topcoder.com
I think its a really amazing site because you learn a lot from doing the challanging programming problems and you can make some money doing it.
Also, you get to find out just how good of a programmer you really are. There are 2 competitions per week with a few hundred programmers competing from all over the world.
I think anyone who wants to improve their programming abilities should join.

Also, if you join http://www.topcoder.com please put konsept as your referrer. Thank you.

You forgot United Kingdom and Ireland. And if I understand it correctly, everybody can participate, but only people from these countries are eligible for prizes. So you can still join for fun and for the learning experience.

yeah, you have to be 18 to get paid but I think this is a blessing in disguise. when you know that you're not going to get any money you don't stress during the contest and as a result perform better and learn more. so by the time you're old enough to make money you'll have had a lot of practice and you'll be able to think faster and make less bugs later on.
