10997 - Medals

What I can think for 10997 is putting all the possible values.

It gives AC. However, I am thinking that there should be faster way to solve this kind of problem. Any idea?

There are 6 edges. If we number edges 0,1,2,3.. 0-1 : 200 2-3 : 212.132 1-2 : 300 1-3 : 474.342 0-2 : 500 0-3 : 667.083 Among this 6 edges. You choose first 2 edges. The maximum value of edge is the answer. The tricky thing in this problem is about 'satellite channel'. The channel means not 'edges' ...

for (i = u+1; i < t; i++) { if (map1 == 0 && check == 0) { check = 1; dfs(i, cnt+1); check = 0; } } I think this part is quite dangerous, because you only check current topic with next topic. I changed this part of your code and got AC.

One more funny thing on Coimbaotre Contest

I also participated in Coimbatore contest. One more funny thing is that our team CHANGED our computer DURING the contest because of manager's fault. (They mis-arrange the team seat.) Of course, we are not allowed to move our source code. Finally, we lost our time. We re-typed the source code. I'll s...

Re: Yes there is a trick

Hi lowai, I recently found out that there may be a trick in this problem. I cannot, however, confirm that what I say is correct. The problem did NOT state that all rectangles must be parallel to the axes. This means that rectangles can be in any "direction", e.g. diamonds. For example. SAMPLE INPUT...

Re: 638 why?

Denis wrote:In problem said: "Within each set, points labels occur in alphabetical order".
Code with sorting this labels gives AC, but without WA.

Maybe BUG or I something not understand?!
You are right.

I finally got AC after I sorted the input. Thanx..

I think the description should be fixed.
