No special technique is required. Just check out all possible options. No need of recursion.

As I know, one of the direction of rejudge is "don't let someone get 0.00 runtime".

My personal opinion is that preventing 0.000 runtime should never be the aim of change of problem statement. The two valid causes that I can think of are (there might be other ones too - but not the above one ...

You don't need to go full length of the string. Going upto half the length of the string would be enough . Doing swap using XOR operation would make it even faster.....though that hardly matters.
